Question 722.3 transmission check valve

I am repairing a 722.312 automatic transmision from my 380SL. The ASTG manual refers to a "check valve" in the primary pump housing. My dealer can't find the part in his computer or fiche. The part was not in the original transmission or it got swallowed when the primary pump failed.

Attached is the assembly drawing showing the part (#23). Can anyone shed light on this mystery? TIA

That picture which is on page 83 of the ATSG book is only for 722.4 trannies I think. The part number is 201 270 03 89 on 722.4 trannies and does show on the EPC for 722.4 units but not in the same frame for a 722.3 units.
