W124 E320 Sunroof opens and closes SLOW!

IT opens up very slowly! Sometimes, when trying to just tilt it up it can't do it...then it pops out. Weird.

So what's the matter? I doubt it has to do with the cable. Is it the motor? How much is replacing one of those?

Happened to me once.

The tracks are just dry.

You simply need to lubricate the tracks with an all-purpose grease.

Mercedes sells a grease specifically for this application that I saw at my mechanics, but I don't know if it is any different than just plain grease.

Talking sunroof problem

I had the same problem with the sunroof in my 1994 Euro C180 last year. There were 2 things done. First I had the rails greased by a Benz tech using the genuine Benz grease. Then I changed to a new heavy duty battery and wow, it works like a dream now. Previously it was struggling to move forwards and backwards. Worse, it refused to tillt up , so I had to give it a shove from below to give it just enough pressure to rise. The worst thing was that a few techs quoted me A$2000 to take out the whole thing, replace all the broken or have to be replaced parts, grease it, put it back in plus all the work needed to do the roof lining work required . The grease and the labour only cost a few dollars instead.

Oooops, forgot to e-mail you.

I got back yesterday.

I'm leaving for Atlanta tomorrow, and I'll be there all next week.

E-mail me privately with the specific questions you'd like to ask the seller, and I'll do it on my computer at home that has Japanese Language Support.

I've had the same problem with my '98 ML320, it works in all positions, just slow compared to other MB's I've driven. Same problem, grease and battery?

You mean the car's battery? Thought you were talking about a separate battery for a second. Mine is new, and heavy duty (crazy cranking amps rating ). I guess I need to grease the sucker.
