Dysfunctional Heater Blower
My heater blower has been putzing out on me... seems to happen only when I use the auto switch control. If I use only the slow or fast setting buttons, the blower keeps working. After some time operating on the auto setting, however, the blower stops blowing. If I turn off the car and wait for about 10 minutes, the blower starts back up again on ignition.
Any ideas on this? What should I check? My guess is that there's a relay on the fritz. Where's the relay located? What's the part called? How much is to replace? |

Heater Blower Problem
It's a 92 300E. I don't think the push-buttons are at fault...

Heater Blower Dysfunction
Hey Giorriso,
Thanks for the reply! I think I'm going to replace the blower too, because it's making a lot of squeeking noises lately. Is the regulator located below the blower? How much did you pay for the regulator? Is it something done easily enough, especially if I replace the blower at the same time? |

Hope I'm not too late Todd....
If you haven't already......here's an idea for you. The brushes in the blower moter may be worn down. Mine are/were and temp fixed by shimming behind the brushes. I have to get new ones this next week due to my blower stopped working again but for a while it ran like a new one. Brushes are simple to replace if you have a soldering iron.

Heater Blower Motor Replacement
Thanks, Bruce B.
Just to close this thread... I bit the bullet and had the dealer (Keeler, Albany NY) do the work. They replaced the blower motor (part A 000 830 82 08 – $313) and they also replaced the Blower Regulator Switch (part A 124 820 27 10 – $288). The labor ($89/hr) came to around $400. All I can say is OUCH. Thanks to all who replied. If I had more patience and time, I would have gone at this myself.... or at least bought the parts online and brought them to the dealer. |
