Help....coil ground wire

I am getting ready to start my car up for the first time in a while. I put on a new chain amongst other things. I am putting the finishing touches on it before I start it to make sure I didn't miss anything. There is what appears to be a ground wire that is coming from the coil. To the best of my recollection, the was bolted to a small metal plate that was zip-tied to the bundle of wires that drapes across the top of the PS pump. It doesn't make much sense because you'd think if it was a ground, it would be bolted to something other than a bunch of wires...like to the body or something. I am just making sure though. Maybe someone can go and look under the hood of their 420 or 560 and confirm this. Thanks!!
