My 1986 230TE rocks like a horse.
Have drained out the hydraulic fluid ZH-M about 3 litre plus and it still rocks. Is it the shock absorber? There is no leakage whatsoever and i believe the absorber is a bit soft. Please advise. Thanks in advance. Azudin O Fuad Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia ------------------ |

The most common failure of any car w/leveling system is the hydraulic accumulators. They are black round ball-shaped on both sides of the rear axle. Not real expensive, but will take a couple of hours to install. Shocks won't cause this type of problem.

Yep, definitely the accumulators are bad. I think they're in the $180/each neighborhood. Hurts the wallet but helps the back. ![]() ------------------ Rgds, Aaron Greenberg MB technician Precision Motorcars, Cincinnati, Ohio '67 250SE Cabriolet '77 450SL '79 6.9 '80 300SD '85 380SE '89 420SEL '93 300E 2.8 |
