Water leaking out of w140
Car: 1993 500 SEL; 125,000 miles
Questions: A) What is an Auxiliary water pump? Where is it? B) What brand water pump should I buy? C) Do you have directions on how to replace the pump, what else needs removed? D) Where do I find the engine number? Symptom: Water leaking. Noticeable by the large puddle under car and the two (2) gallons of fluid I have added in two days. I'll get under the car today. I'm thinking it is the water pump. FastLane has offered several brands of pumps, at different prices. 1) Graf 2) Hepu 3) Laso Comment: I will borrow a preasure tester free from local AutoZone today. See their web site for more info.

Water not coming water pump - but
The water doesn't seem to be coming from the main water pump.
It is dripping by a "small black plastic box" under the crank shaft. Can some one identify what the black box is? It has a cable or something about 1//4 inch thick coming out the top. There is a large water hose just above the black box. Is that where the auxiliary water pump is? Thanks for the help. Comment: As the car is sitting, nice and cool, the drip drip of water continues to drip out.

drippy drippy
The plastic box behind the harmonic balancer is the collection unit for when coolant starts wizzing out of the main water pump weap hole. the tube runs down from the water pump to the black box to avoid having coolant hit the belt or pulley.
You will need a water pump (engine). DR.D |

Thanks for the comment.
I have taken the car to the local dealer for an unscheduled service call.
