Timing Chain snapped.
The timing chain on my 1993 w124 petrol,230ce has snapped and without removing the head and checking all the valves, can you tell me if there is any possibility that the valves will be ok? I do not know if there is enough clerance between a fully open valve and a TDC piston.

Pull the cams and do a leakdown test on each cylinder. There shouldn't be any air leaking out the intake or exhaust manifold.
There is NO clearance between an open valve and TDC. Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL 83 300SD |

Out of interest - in what situation did it break, and how many miles has it done? Has it had a timing chain before?
