I'm thinking of converting my 1986 300E to a 300TD.

Background: Gasprices in these parts of the world are going through the roof at the moment. -Dieselprice is dropping.. Go figure?
This is also the reason i can't sell my gas-guzzling 300E. (and buy a 300TD instead) -I don't even think i would be able to give it away for free! Well.. maybe.

So.. Is it possible -and economically reasonable to drop a 300 turbo-diesel engine in my 300E?

How much "stuff" beside the drivetrain is required? -ECU? -Fuel pumps?
