Can a fuel pressure regulator be tested?
88 300e is the car. How do you diagnose a bad regulator? This part is too expensive to gamble on.

Come on.... a fuel pressure regulator regulates. So check to see that it does.... with a fuel pressure gauge.
Also check that it doesn't leak.

Look at the picture showing the airflow potentiometer in the other thread about adjusting fuel pressure. It is the metal can hooked by metal line to the fuel distributor.
