W140 Blower Motor / Regulator Replace Together?
All,
I've also been told by MB dealer that my blower motor regulator was bad so I'd have to replace the blower and motor as a unit. From the posts I've read, this doesn't seem to be the case. Can they be replaced separately? Is it hard for an average DYI'er to do? Again, they want $1200, but can get Regulator from Phil @ $190 and Heater Motor for $121. Also, in fast lane, noticed there's a "Heater Motor" and also a "Ventilation Motor "(which is not available) Any difference? From the picture, it looks like I'd be needing to replace the heater motor. Originally took it to the shop because the blower stopped working suddenly at any speed, hot or cold, auto or manual. Thanks! Don

you can replace one with out the other!but that also depends on
the condition of the blower itself, maybe the dealer felt the blow- er had a little to much wear in it,if you don't feel good about it you can pick up a regulator at the mercedesshop, but i have replaced alot of reg.myself. paul rondeau 22yr.ASEmercedesbenz tech. blm.field hills.mi |

If the blower motor . . . .
didn't make any 'noises' (ie: bearing wear), then why replace it??
Also do a search and you find some pics: it's a DIY job for sure. |
