W126 window regulator repair - illustrated

One of the repairs required to my newly returned 300SD was to the right rear window regulator.

Given that the typical MB shop will simply replace the whole regulator/motor assembly - say $300 - $400 for parts and $400 for labor - I thought it might be nice to ilustrate how to do this for $5, provided your motor is still in working order and the only broken part is the nylon sliding jaw. Even this simple repair, if done correctly without needless replacement of good parts, will still run you 3 hours of labor. My labor rate was very reasonable....

Go to my web site - Cars - Technical - Chassis for details.

Enjoy!

Hi Thomaspin,

thanks for the slide show. It will come in handy for someone (hopefully not me, knock on wood). I rather replace the alternator regulator...

Another excellent job!

You are too good to us. You should be paid for this kind of work.
