rotor and cap distributor / help needed

Do you guys know if there is any difference between the boch rotor & distributor sold at the regular parts stores and the boch ones sold at the dealer.According to this guy at the dealer I can not buy let's say a cap at the parts store and buy the rotor at the dealer. He said that they would not match perfectly because the ones made by boch for mercedes are specially design for mercedes.Do you guys know if that is true or is he just trying to make me spend the extra money at the dealer.

Why would you want to buy one ignition item at one place and it's cousin at another?

Buy a matched set. If you don't want to pay dealer price, search the web site for oem parts providers. You could patronize the parts house here at the top of your screen - FASTLANE.

I wouldn't put NAPA, Auto-Zone or for that matter, any non-OEM ign. parts on my MB. You get what you pay for.

To my experience I purchased Bosch through Fastlane and at a Import parts store and the quality was perfect. It is possible that parts purchased at Pep Boys could be less than perfect, because I have bought name brands there for American cars and the quality was crap, like rebuilt alternators and batteries that last for six months and Gabriel Performance shocks that were questionable in quality. You have to know your parts manufacturer. Fastlane sells junk too like KYB shocks.

Many times ignition items(even Bosch) like spark plug wires will be aftermarket "quality". BUT Bosch dist caps & rotors are ALL the same as long as the bosch number matches.
