1986 2.3-16V: Left rear power window has intermittent operation when driver and/or passenger switch used. QUESTION: I'm probably going to bite the bullet and start by replacing BOTH switches -- how difficult are they to install? Special tool(s) required, or can a "home-tool" be used? About how much (cost) for the two switches? Any "gotchas" I should be aware of?

Can someone furnish me MBZ part nos. for each of the switches? Today I ordered the W201 CD Manual, but it won't arrive 'til Saturday.

Thanks for the help!

Be sure to open and close the door while it is acting up. These were famous for breaking wires inside the door jamb/

I agree on the broken wire idea, I've seen quite a few. A failng window motor is also a good possibility. Watch your dome lamp very closely as you try to use your window switch. If you notice it dims slightly while you push the switch, then the motor is seized. Of course you must have the dome lamp on to see this.

Check the archives. There is a web site
noted that shows how to pull out and clean the toggle switch. Pictues too!
Don't overlook the parts shop.
Good Luck.
