Question Knocking noise

1991 300 TE Wagon. There is knocking/rattle when the car is idling that sounds like it is near the distributor. This noise is especially noticable when the car is in gear and the brake is pressed. When the brake is released or the gas is pressed in idle the noise disappears. What could this indicate??
Note: I noticed the knocking is not noticable until the car is warmed up.

One source of knocking noise is from worn bushings on the belt tensioner shock.
