The backlash in my diff (when measured at the driveshaft) is about 1/3".
This causes a loud clunk on changes between acceleration and deceleration. The manual says you can eliminate the backlash by adding or subtracting shims from either side of the diff. Without having the cexpensive measuring equipment, is there a rough way to estimate how thick the shims should be relative to how much backlash I need to remove ? thanks Doug McCutchan 1982 280SE |
