What do you get with the B service for 1998 E430 with FSS and what did members pay?

I believe that it is outlined in detail in the rear of your maintenance booklet in the owner's pack.

Around here (Princeton, NJ) a 'B' service costs around $280...and you don't get much for that amount. Basically an oil change and climate control filter (like the 'A' service) and also new windshield wiper inserts, tire rotation and some visual inspections. You could probably buy it a la carte for about $100. Fortunately, my dealer does not insist on the 'A' and 'B' systems and does regular oil changes instead for about $60. I buy the rest when it's needed.

Save your money. It's a rip off.

You can get all the parts for about $60.00
The oil filter, Wiper Blade & air filters. BTW the wiper blades are natural rubber and wear out very fast...

EGRUBER, you are lucky to pay $280 for FSS B Service. My dealer charges $480.00. What a "expletive" ripoff.

Just had a B-FSS service done on my 1998 300E TD in the Chicago area. Charged $255 and got an additional 10% off with dealer coupon. Had the car alomost all day though for a couple of hours work.

Kevin,
I recently had the "B" service done to my ML320, and it cost $230. Since I notice that you are from the D.C. area, why not drive to Benson (MB dealer)in Annapolis and try them out and still saves a bundle. If you do not want to wait for the car, they will even give you a rental for free for as long as you leave your car with them. They have been doing good work for me. Heck, I bought two Benz from them.

ELAU, thanks for the information, Benson sounds like a deal. Today I called the four MBZ delers in the Washington, D.C. area to get their prices on the FSSA & FSSB service. Here are the ripoff prices:

1. American Service Center: FSSA $260/FSSB $430

2. Euro MotorCars: FSSA $305/FSSB $400

3. HBL: FSSA $250/FSSB $450

4. Herb Gordon: FSSA $180/FSSB $390

Just paid $450 for Service B yesterday. Is it true that MB can void your warranty if you don't follow the service schedule? I thought that as long as I was dilligent at keeping records and receipts and maintained the vehicle well, my warranty would not be in jeopardy?

Kevin,
I can further break down what Benson charged for a "B" Service Plan. $168 for "B" Service for all items listed on the Service Sheet (FSS), $60 for oil change. The price includes a free rental car. Hope this helps.

Mercedes won't void warranty if you do all of recommended services. Any one can do the service. Make sure to have all service work documented, save all records. Use factory OE parts & everything should be ok.
Posted labor for "B" service should be 2.2-2.9 hrs. More for any other work.
