W124 vinyl Steering Wheel repair

I just bought the '89 300TE, and the vinyl on the steering wheel's upper part is slipping, like it is not glued to the inner steel rim anylonger. Is there any easy fix before buying a new one? (couln't find any pertaining information on this subject here)

Also, is there a way of buying a cargo area cover, which according to the Owner's Manual was available at the time when the car was new? The dealer says that they don't carry it anymore, and that it was very expensive.

I think your out of luck with the steering wheel, but I'm not sure, for the cargo mat, try performance products.com. Not always the cheapest but they usually carry the things others dont. Good Luck

I have the exact same problem with my steering wheel. Someone suggested that I puncture a hole in the wheel covering where it is slipping and inject some type of glue or silicone in there to freeze it up. I have decided to forget it for now. A used steering wheel may likely have the same problem. There are companies out there that will re-upholster steering wheels with leather, cost about 150-200 bucks.

drbrandini,
thanks for the tip about the tonnau cover, but prior I already checked with the Performance Products, and they don't have it. I think I will contact my Buddy living in Gernay, and see if I can get it there. Also will check how much are replacements wood consoles and replacement wood trim pieces over there.

Cheers

steering wheel problem

Thank you guys.
Do you know, btw, who will re-upholster the existing steering wheel here in the South West? (Los Angeles for example?)
