Flex disc
I hear talk about checking this piece, to trying to narrow down the cause of this vibration problem that I am having. Where is this located and how can I tell if it is bad?

It is sort of Mercedes' answer to U-joints. Look on either end of the driveshaft and you can tell if the material is degraded or missing.

what is that line?
What is that line coming out of the differential? I have one too but it's cut and just hangs there like that, do I need this for something? I thought of it to be a breather hose of some sort but it's dry so I don't think so anymore.

speed sensor for abs?
that's funny, my car has no ABS, I guess the differential was swapped once already, it sounds now as if it needs to be swapped again....

Most generations of ABS up until recently only, in fact, have one sensor for both rear wheels, usually located in the differential. This means that, if one rear wheel locks, the brakes will be release on both wheels. I'm not entirely sure why this is, perhaps because of the differential effect?
