Anyone heard of - or use - Anti Wear 1
I was doing some research on a product called Auto-RX (engine cleaner one ads to the oil ) and came across a product called Anti Wear 1. They claim to be a NASA tested. Though there claims seem to good to be true, I didn't come across it named in any "Snakeoil" threads.
I originally found it mentioned in this thread: http://www.oilanalysis.com/message_boards/message_details_by_list.asp?foldername=Are+oil+additives+like+Pro%2Dlong+any+good%3F&messagenumber=1%20 Anyone out there heard or used this stuff? |

"There is only one lube additive I have ever found that works. It is Anti Wear 1. It contains no oil and is just chemicals that when in oil modify the surfaces of the rubbing metals. No particulate material is present. Only 2% is needed in any oil or grease. It acts as a catalyst to metal surfaces. Wear is reduced by 90% and friction by 40%. Even worn surfaces can be recontoured by the processes used. It has been aroung for 20 years and has been used in aerospace and industrial applications and also works in auto lubes." --------------- Oh, come on now. What can one say when something sounds so good that it must simply be immune to any known laws of physics and chemistry? Am I the lone cynic, or is everyone else just too tired to post...?

Then it is. Case closed. Why is it always NASA? Seems to me that many of these snake-oil products like to pick on this particular government agency. Lots of turmoil there since the latest tragedy, maybe they should use the IRS auto fleet as an example. |

P.T. Barnum did not say "There's a sucker born every minute".
It was George Hull. http://www.historybuff.com/library/refbarnum.html

magic potion
Moly disulfide rally works great at preventing wear--in non oil lubricated environments. MOS will not stick to oily metal. To get it to adhere so it will work the metal surface must be chemically cleaned.
