190E Rear direction light

The rear directional acts up at times-I can tell by the "fast blink", I'll get out and "rap" on the lense assembly and all is well.
Ideas? Nothing serious-just curious (hee hee)

Mel,

Make sure it is a proper bulb. If it is try squeezing the contacts so they make a tighter contact.

Sometimes the contacts get corroded as well.

Good call on contacts-I should have some time this weekend to check. It just started a few days ago. Thanks! Mel
P.S. If all my problems are this simple I'll be O.K.!

Amen to that!

Be sure your bulb(s) are MBZ specs .... often the general auto parts bulbs work all right for a while but then start being weird.

The correct bulb wattage is embossed on the taillight housing.

For replacements, use bulbs with the nickel-plated base (Osram, Philips, Sylvania). Stay away from the gold-anodized ones, as they show a different resistance to the circuit, which could potentially set off the dash indicator...

Thanks guys-just a stupid little thing, but nice to know what to look for-who would've thought? I would've just grabbed the size bulb I needed!
