Driver's side seat belt replacement S500

When I drive and move a bit forward my seat belt retracts OK but refuses to roll back unless I release it from the buckle. Does it need replacement? If so how many hours does it take? I don't want to wind up with $500.00 bill from MB BTW is the seat belt expensive?
