300 E 88 Engine Off Suddenly At 40 Mph

My 300E - 1988 off suddenly close to 40 MPH.

The fuel filter is less tank 5000 kilometers. The Idle is OK close to 500 RPM. Air filter is clean. Idle Control Valve clean.

The Pin2 voltage at AIR FLOW Pottenciometer is 700 Milivots, DUTY CYCLE is 50%.

I will check the fuel pressure Tomorow.

Please help me.

Thanks

I'll take a stab at this.
Either your fuel supply got cut off (fuel pump fuse/fuel pump) or your ignition failed. (distributor/rotor/coil)

Pull a spark plug and see if you have spark. If you do, it's your fuel system that failed somehow.

Did the engine die as if you shut the ignition off or did it stumble a bit first?
And even though this may sound stupid, do you have any gasoline left? (gasoline level indicators do fail too..)

ENgine die as we shut the ignition

Thanks Mr FREESTYLER by you interest. The car turn on again after engine off. Although some difficult to start.

It can shut off three times in a 5 kilometers distance.

The engine die soft as we shut off the ignition. Not stumble.

Gas tank is full, the cap distributor, rotor and fuel pumps are no more thank 5000 kilometers.

I have'nt check the Coil yet. How to do it?.

Tanks.

It could be a bad fuel pump relay. Or even more likely a bad OVP relay. Bad OVP relays are the cause of numerous strange faults on this car.

You find the OVP relay behind the plastic shield between the battery and the second firewall.
If there is a fuse on top of the relay, check that. And even if the fuse is not blown, the relay could still be defect. (mine was)

Good luck.
