I was coming to work this morning on the
interstate when I began to smell diesel fuel on my 84 300SD...Pulled over....fuel all over the engine. Where? There was a crack in the bottom of the metal (screw on ) fuel filter. I have never heard of this. The filter is a Borsh unit;it was replaced last November!!! I made it home, but used almost a half tank of fuel (20 miles). After all this, I thought about the possibility of the car catching on fire??? Comments. The filter had a dent in it somehow and it worked until it failed. Inspect parts closely.!!
