I have '87 300E w/182K. runs exc. but having
trouble passing Ca. smog test. HC is @ 250 on idle (all other elements of test ok).need to get it to 130. Have done new injectors/seals. nu cat.conv 2 yrs ago. last wk did valve guide seals. Being told head gasket problem, but oil/water are clean. Intermittent mis on
idle. nu plugs/wires/cap/rtr. Mech. says head gasket & new(again) cat. I am hesitant. Car is being offered 4 sale, so dont want to put
a mint into it. Any suggestions? Thanks

Have a new cat put on and it will pass. The cat will clean up dirty emmisions. Leave it at that.
