W203 suspension and power steering
Hi, newbie to the forum
I have 2 issues with an 01 C320. First is a suspension clunk that happens when the front is elevated (speedbump, rapid acceleration, pulling up on front fender) and has had a new strut assembly and sway bar end links with the problem still there. The dealer and one of our third party suspension specialists baffled. Secondly there is a moaning coming from under the hood of the car and is presumed to be the power steering. It has been in the shop for a couple of days and the people in service can't duplicate it at sea level (it's started every morning at 2000 above sea level). It goes away after 5 or so minutes of driving which isn't enough time to go to the dealer to have them check it out... any suggestions?? Thanks in advance |

There is a service bulletin on the thumping noise. Bulletin number P-B-32.25/27 dated Sept 2001, have them check out the strut stop as the clearance on the rebound stop is possiblty too small.
P/s noises are un-common on that car but on the later cars (1998 & later) the p/s reservoir can cause noises as the filtering screen will restrict fluid flow. Replacement of the reserevoir will resolve that problem. Good luck!

Thank you for the reply
Although I already have had to bring the bulletin I found elsewhere to the dealer's attention, they claim the bulletin has been taken care of with a new strut assembly and bushing. This was done before the sway bar end link and taking the car to a third party.
I will mention the power steering to the dealer Thanks again |
