Yesterday, the door of my 1993 500SEL started making a very loud "clicking" sound at varying degrees in the door's range of motion. The flat metal piece that hinges from the chassis to inside the door was the problem and I noticed that it had somehow lost its attachement point inside the door. Earlier tonight, the clicking stopped, but now my window won't go down more than 40% of the way before slowing down and stopping. Also, the door does not "lock" into an open position, it will start to swing close if I don't hold it open when I exit/enter the car. I've taken the door panels off of my 124 a few times for speaker installs, is this problem something I can likely fix myself or do I have to go spend money? If anything, I'd like to take off the inner door panels and have a look..I did notice two bolts above and below the hole that the metal piece enters into in the door. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
