How do you reset the FLex Service System light on the newer mercedes without going to the dealer?? a friend of mine has a 1999 300 turbo diesel and does his own oil changes.. is there a way he can do it?

He should have it, read it, and keep it handy. Get thee to a dealer and if they don't have one handy, they'll get him one in short order.

Use the search function here, as the procedure has been repeated at least a half dozen times for W202 and W210 cars.

While your at it read the section on whats involved with the B and A services, it's a bit more than a oil change. Turn on the key (door shut) push the l/h cluster button twice to get the wrench on screen, press and hold the button, turn off the key for 5 seconds, turn key back on all the while holding the button, after 15 seconds or so, it'll beep and reset to either 10k or 7500 depending on coding.

I did all of this and it worked fine, but now when I start my car I dont see the wrench anymore, I have to push the button twice to see it, before it would just show up after it started, I changed the oil long before it was due, anyway to get it back to showing at startup..

The wrench and mileage remaining to the next service will start appearing again in the cluster when the mileage or time remaining start getting closer to the next service. It's meant to get your attention. If it *always* appears, it won't really be noticed that much when the mileage is getting closer. The distance or time remaining warning can be adapted at the dealer, but I don't think it is capable of doing what you want it to do-come on at every startup regardless of distance or time remaining, but it can be adjusted to come on sooner or later at the dealer.
