95 E320 Wagon: A little growl in reverse ....
Today I noticed a little growl in reverse gear backing out of the drive.
Do all the 94-95 E320s do this? Haasman |
When mine did that, the muffler fell off 3 weeks later. Check your muffler.

LOL ....
... thanks at this point that makes a lot of sense! Why not, muffler is next. Sincerely, thanks and I will check it out. Haasman |
Any other ideas?

Is your growl my hiss ? My car seems to sound meaner in reverse...but nobody seems to know why

My wagon niether hisses nor growels. You may be looking at aggressivenes, in which case obedience school may be worth a look.

When I first got my wagon it jumped out of reverse backing up my driveway,,, about 50 yards. I quit doing that for about 3 months and started backing up in small increments going farther each time. Now it works fine. The obedience school may not be too bad an idea. :D

I would very much like to send it to obedience school, maybe the Teutonic Mechanical Institute for Misbehaving Automobiles.
... but does this sound indicate a problem? The 300E never has done this. Is it common with the later 124s? Haasman |
