Angry 560sel door switch problem Electrical

Radio and climate control light go off when I close the door. When the door is opened I get power back to the radio and climate control unit (lights).
I drove and opened the door to listen to the radio. Help anyone.

Problem is with drivers side door.
1988 560sel.

Thank you

Nick

In the fuse box(rear section) there is a dark grey plastic plug-in SEAT DIODE. Very comon fot that to short out & cause your type of problem.
MB part number 000-540-42-81 (old number 000-540-19-81). List is $8.75. OR if you are handy with electronics then just solder in a diode from Radio Shack.

MB DOC

MB DOC - would this same "diode" be the culprit of a "door must be open to adjust electric seats"?

If the diode shorts out then the battery(power on all of the time) circuit feeds into the key ON circuit & causes strange electrical problems like radio operation. BUT if the diode goes open then the seat operation with key off/on may not work properly.

That could also be a bad seat belt warning relay.

No, don't think that the warning buzzer has any effect on this circuit. The warning buzzer will affect the dome lamp but not the SEAT control circuit.

I had a similar problem where the stereo would only operate with the door open. Even with the keys out - open door hear music, close door silence. Drove home in silence pondering the situation.

Checked fuses, found the fuse for the vanity lights (which also covers the stereo and illumination control) blown. Come to find out junior touched both contacts with a penny while I was getting the little one from school.

Take a look at fuse #2.

Talking Problem fixed thank you to all

The problem was the #2 fuse. The white fuse was so small that I had to take it out to find out it was bad.

It all started because I put in a new sunroof guide and cable. Adjusting the sunroof made the batt. go. I jumped the car and then all the problems started.

If this site was not up, I do not know what I would do. The dealer does not help out to much. They said that I should bring in the car and that it sounded like a diff. problem. They also wanted $1800.00 to fix my sunroof.

Thank you to all
