300E power seat help!

Yesterday the backrest on the passengers seat of my 300E decided to take a break. I couldn't get it to work. Then later in the day decided to work again for a brief stint but has since quit again. The seat bottom on the same seat has been doing this for a few months also.. My question; Are there contacts that need to be cleaned or something along those lines? Also when the backrest wasn't working properly, it would go back but not forward...any suggestions? Thanks for your help

its the seat switch. that was the problem with my old 300e. I thought it was the motor messing up, but it turned out to be the switch.

You're on the right track in starting with cleaning the switches. A product called Caig Deoxit works well without removing the switch. It's available at many electronic supply places but it's not cheap for the little container you get. Pull the knobs straight out (very difficult in my cars) then spray into the switch innards.

You can use it on window switches as they start to get flaky.

You'd think I was a Caig spokesperson by the number of times I've suggested Deoxit over the past couple of days.
