I searched the archives but I'd like to get some specific info, please.
The motor mount on the passenger side seems abit flat visually but I wonder what a good one measures between the top and and where it sits. There are no symptoms of vibration so I inquire whether it needs a new one (does the small shock absorber require replacement at same time?) 83,000 miles. Should they be replaced in pairs ?
I'm curious about the timing chain on this model. Approx. when is replacement appropriate? Has original one.
Thank you.

I just ordered the motor mounts for my 300E w/130K mi and will be doing the job next week. I will measure before and afer and let you know if no one else has posted a spec. I'm also replacing that pully damper as it is squeaking. In talking to other owners, the motor mounts and the damper seem to be common replacements at 100,000 to 125,000 mi (also radiators and water pumps).
I noticed you are in the bay area. I'm in Novato and will give you my phone # if you e-mail me so we can agree on where to measure the mounts from.

THE FACTORY SAYS MOUNTS ARE JUNK WHEN YOU CAN NO LONGER PASS A 10 MM. GUAGE BETWEEN FRAME AND METAL SKIRT OF MOUNT HOWEVER THE RIDE WILL BE ROTTEN LONG BEFORE THEY GET THAT LOW. M.F.

And on John's 300e the min. spec is 13mm between the frame and the bottom of the mount.
