Anti Lock and ASR Lights on
I have a 93, 300E, 3.2 that the anti lock and ASR lights have come on.
It started out intermittent. Naturally, the first time I took it in the lights went out no problem could be found. After about 3 weeks there was hard failure and the lights are now on solid. The diagnostic computer check then indicated both a bad front and rear wheel speed sensor. They were changed. The failure codes went away, but the lights stay on. We put the old sensors back and the codes returned. The mechanic suggested trying a dealer for repairs as he would just be swapping parts at this time. I would like to hear what others have experienced, learned or think. |

To Albert's point:
The VR is underneath the alternator. 2 phillips screws come out. You pull it out and plop in a new one. There are 2 brushes. New ones are .5" long. Look at this sites FatsLane for the VR. Very easy to spot from underneath, especially after you've seen the photo. Helps to put front of car on ramps. It takes longer to do this than to change the part. |
