We just got in the shop a theft recovered 1995 SL500. They took the front end including the smog pump, alternator and brackets...Unfortunately we CANNOT come up with one good picture of what exactly goes on the left side of the engine; It is obvious that the smog pump goes next to the fan (the hoses and vacuums fit right in), however, we cannot figure out how the brackets fit to hold the alternator. It seems that there is something else missing? Is there a pulley or tensioner on the left side? The pics of the engine that my MITCHELL on line gives shows a different engine setup - alternator first, smog pump second...It seems that I have a piece of the puzzle that I am missing...Help!
