1998 C280 Squealing noise from front breaks
1998 C280 Squealing noise from front breaks.
Mercedes dealer put new front rotors and pads, but noise is still there. They said that it would disappear later on. It is true? |

yes it is true, new brakes have a sort of smooth film on them that will tend to squeal, it lasts about a week.

Sand the pads first?
A Merc friend driving a 124 was looking over my shoulder as I changed the REAR pads and rotors on my car.
When I was fitting the new pads, he advised me to sand the pads first to avoid any squealing (???). Not wanting to offend him , I did it and amazingly, the new brakes do not squeak at all! Btw, my setup in the rear is BREMBO rotors/Texstar pads. Originally, they were the same as the front ATE rotors/Jurid pads. In any case, no squeals from either setup. Cheers. |

Thanks, I'll ask a mechanic to do it.
