Purchase question regarding S500
Guys,
I'm in the market searching for a 92 to 96 S500. After reading numerious posts in this forum regarding the A/C problems with these models and it's expensive repair especially with the evaporators etc... I"m curious.. is there a way that I can find out whether or not the previous owner had already done the repairs on the A/C system or not. Just by viusal inspections ? This way I'd rather go with a high mileage car that has the repairs already done rather than a low mileage one that I'll have to end up spending money on the A/C issue that is known to occur at some point in the car's life. Any input would be appreciated... |

Such a repair should be noted in the records. You are holding out for a car with records, aren't you?

Mike,
thanks for the reply. Most of the cars I've looked at usually have had more than one pervious owners and don't have all the records. that's why I wanted to find out if there are any visual signs I could perhaps look for to spot out if the A/C system has been worked at and the more expensive parts, for which I've read the labor/parts could end up in the $3000 range, have been changed already. As for waiting for the car with all the records, well.. I've usually seen those cars advertised for way more than the market value. sometimes 5K more. I'll take the records if the owner has them available, but i'm not making it a point to wait for one that has them all.. |
