Where Is That,,,, "THUNK"?

Ever since i had my 300E painted ( doors were removed ) the doors have lost thier "Thunk". They were so bad when i got the car back that I had a hard time closing them! I realigned them enough to get them to close but, how do I align them to Mercedes spec.? I want my "THUNK" back! Your suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Adam

THUNK

If you want a thunk, get a Volvo 240. Sounds like a bank vault closing. Seriously, it does! My mom has one.

I need to align the doors on my 300CE. What's the right way to do it? I saw a post where someone mentioned using rubber shims. Is that correct? If so, can a person buy pre-fab shims or do I just cut some pieces of rubber? I'm still trying to locate my shop manual CD-ROM doggone it.
