1993 190E 2.6 Automatic Trans. Fluid and Filter Renewal

Removing the fluid from the torque converter:
Does the torque converter drain plug come all the way out after the alignment. I see the torque converter drain plug in the cutout area in front of the transmission fluid pan. Is this the only plug to be removed to drain the torque converter (Is there another plug to be removed)? Which direction - when rotating the crankshaft pulley hub bolt?

That one plug should drain your converter. It's a short plug that comes all the way out. I don't believe there is any other plug.

All the bolts holding the pan in place and the drain plugs are 5mm.

Turn the engine only in the direction of normal rotation. That would be clockwise looking into the front of the engine. Use a ratchet set properly so you can't turn it the wrong way.

The tranny pan drain plug and converter drain plug are 5mm allen head. The tranny pan bolts are larger and not of the allen variety - traditional bolts - forget the exact size - 12mm/13mm approx.

Caveat on the direction of engine rotation. On the M103, the fan spins CCW because it's driven by the smooth side of the belt. Don't use the pitch of the fan to determine which way the engine turns... well, you can if you realize that it's spinning the other way.

doh, forgot that, they are 13mm, sorry, i must have spent too much time with a 380SL lately.
