1989 300SE Center Console Pushbutton Lights

I own a 1989 300SE, and would like to know how to fix a light problem. My center console automatic climate control pushbuttons no longer illuminate when I turn on the exteior lamp switch to the on position. All other items on the certer console illuminate. Could you please give to me a few words of advice?
