Staccato Squeal

In my '83 240D (215K miles) when accelerating in the lower gears I hear a staccato squeal which is loud enough to be heard only when the sunroof or windows are open. It occurs only under harder acceleration and the frequency increases with speed/rpm. Should I be looking toward one of the flex discs or perhaps the shaft bearing?

Thanks,

As in "chirp chirp chirp"?

If so, you are in the right place, but also suspect a dry drive shaft bearing and or dead tranny mount.

Just for kicks, check any engine shocks you have, too -- they can chirp when the engine mounts go flat.
