I just changed the oil in my 300D 2.5, using the excat amount of oil, 8.5 quarts. On the dipstick there are two rubber indiactors that say the oil should be between them, but mine is actually on the rubber indicator itself. Is this amount of oil overfill marginal, obviously too much oil will cause very fun lieaks.
Thanks,
ARI

You will be fine. That amount of extra oil shouldn't be a problem. Just don't push the dipstick in so far.

As I recalled, one of MB's TSBs gave instructions (to a Tech, can you believe it?) as to how to check the engine oil level properly. Another TSB was to revise the amount of oil required for oil change by 1/2 qt. I do not remember what year or model the TBS is for. It sounds like MB is serious about having proper oil level. The bottom line is: between the marks and not overfill. I think on the mark is okay.
