ASR gremlins
I went out to start my '92 500E and the ASR switch light was on. I tried to drive away and yes the ASR is continuously engaged. Has anyone ever run into this situation? Is there an easy fix?
I'd followed the ASR defeat switch thread and I'd been contemplating this modification for track days. Perhaps the 500E doesn't want to be the track car. Jeff Oakland |

Jeff,
When you say the ASR is continuously engaged, are you saying that the car is in "limp home" mode? This is the condition when there is a fault in the ASR system and is detectable by there being a lot of accelerator pedal travel before the throttle actually starts to open, accompanied by the ASR light being on. If that's the case, do a search on "ASR light" and you'll get a lot of info on diagnosinng the system.
