Euro headlights on 500E problem..need help please....

I just installed european headlights on my 92 500e and am having problems. They look great but they are not giving enough light. When I purchased them I was told that I need to beak off on prong off of the headlights as they were daytime driving lights. The plug then fit right in but the lights are very soft or dimm. Has anyone installed these lights that can help me out? Did I do something wrong? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

You might have wired the lights wrong. The stock headlight uses a 5 pin configuration and the euros require a different wire set up.

Search for the Euro headlight installation directions. I bet that is what is wrong.

no need to break any prongs off if you use the correct euro pin plug to your Euros.... PUMA has these plugs for sale using "search" or possibly the source of your W124 Euros has these for sale

I'd suspect the weak lighting due to mis wiring,,, do all functions work correctly? fogs, drivings, standard options?

hope this helps

Classic case of mis-wired headlights. On the W201 (not entirely sure the W124 is much different) the four wires are placed in the new socket as follows:

Put old pin 2 (brown wire) into new socket 2
Put old pin 1 (green wire) into new socket 6
Put old pin 3 (yellow wire) into new socket 5
Put old pin 4 (white wire) into new socket 4

The best means would be to check the pins with a voltmeter with the different headlight switch positions, but this will probably work.
