Lost vacuum after valve adjustment

After adjusting my valves my engine won't shut off, will my doors will not lock, and downshifts are rougher on my 82 300D. I know all of these are powered by vacuum. I've followed all the lines and everything seems to be connected as far as I can tell. I am stumped, any help is appreciated.

Here's the engine bay as of now.

Do not see anything disconnected up top. Maybe you pulled the line off your vac modulator underneath on the tranny.

Symptoms for shifts would be rough, clunky downshift and smooth upshifts. Or you cracked a plastic line or rubber connector when moving them around to adjust the valves.

Look at brown vacuum lines running by brake booster, brown with stripe , those go to shutoff valve , check large brake booster line for leaks, get vacuum gauge and see whats being produced by pump

Pull booster vac hose at booster...... vacuum while engine running? No? Vacuum pump just quit.

I bought a high quality vacuum gauge along with a complete vacuum line kit. Hopefully ill be able to diagnose the problem next weekend.

As for the brake booster, I'm pretty sure the vacuum pump is working because my brake pedal is still just as easy to press.

Fixed! When I deleted the egr valve a while back I plugged the vacuum line with some wire. I sealed it off completely with a cap and everything works!

I guess after the valve adjustment the amount of vacuum decreased, I don't know how vacuum correlates with the amount of blow by. Anyways glad it's fixed, I'll probably replace all the lines anyways.

No, the engine has nothing to do with vacuum on a diesel. The vacuum pump is what creates vacuum. In no way did adjusting the valves or the amount of blow by have any effect on the amount of vacuum the vacuum pump produces. The fact that the plugged EGR line came undone was why you had those issues. Now that you plugged it again, the issues are gone. You must have disturbed that line and the wire plug when you removed the valve cover to do the adjustment.
