Have a 1991 300SE and think I have a bad A/C recirc. actuator. The question I have is..how do I access this actuator? I have read All Data and it tells me to remove the glove box, but I have an air bag in place of the glove box. Anyone been through this that can offer some advice before I get into this thing?

Just curious, what exactly is the function of the A/C recirc. actuator? You don't by chance mean the Aspirator Motor which is behind the glove box that is used to pull air across the internal temperature sensor, do you?

WJM,
The recirculation valve shuts off outside air so the air from the cabin is recircutated. the owners manual says to use this feature when behing a diesel truck or in instances when odors are coming into the cabin. The rocker switch on the console even has a timer built in to it. It stays in recirc mode for a few minutes then shuts off. I know a lot about this thing but I have never actually put my hands on it. Wish me luck |

OK, got it.
What are the symptoms that you are seeing? Have you tested the switch also? Alldata seems to have some pictures of this thing om my car, but I can't tell exactly where it is referring to.

I posted the problem last week and got a few replies and the issue is on WOT with the A/C on the air stops blowing out of the dash vents and goes to the defrost. When vacuum comes back the air shifts back to the dash vents. I abviously have a vacuum leak and I have narowed it down to the actuators named earlier.

Well,
I had to remove my passenger air bag AND lower panel recently to replace the aspirator motor. In case your car is set up the same, the following thread has instructions for removing the passenger airbag and lower panel. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/tech-help/20269-removal-cover-under-passenger-airbag-post436789.html
