Unhappy 96 e320 a/c problems

i just purchased a 1996 E320 and I'm having some strange problems with it.

The A/C, when switched on, blows cool air thru the passenger side vent and the left vent on the center console. But the driver's side right vent and the right vent on the center console only blows ambient air.

I've tried to play with the temperature setting, but it makes no diference. The driver (me!) only gets warm/ambient air. It's like the A/C isn't even on. I browsed this forum and you guys seem to know more about these cars than I ever will Also, I got the values from the a/c panel and am including it, in case someone might need it. Thanks for all your help!

First, it appears that the AC panel info is determined with the engine not running. The AC system runs with the engine running only.

Next, we need to know the units of measure. Are you in C or F temp wise? It makes a huge difference in those readings.

Common failure on the W210 is evap temp sensor. Do a search and you'll find lots of symptoms. With your car, it sounds like some of the flaps might not be working. I think there is a diagnostic test for this as well, but don't know how to perform it.

What you test is a sensor reading. You need to test the AC management.

The detail of the test could be found here
