Stalling '69 280SE

My '69 280SE starts easily when it is warmed-up, however, it stalls when I stop. I have to press the accelerator slightly and put it in gear at the same time in order to prevent it from stalling. What is/are the problem(s)?

We are going way back in time here and the beginnings of emission control. I don't have my reference material handy, but check the back of the injection pump for two solenoids. If there are two, one of them may be causing the pump to shut off the fuel. If you have two, one is for cold start and one is for fuel shut off during decell. Disconnect both and see if your problem goes away.

Two likely possibilities-

Overall idle speed could be too slow -should be about 700-800 rpm. Use the idle air screw to adjust.

Or

There is a solenoid on the throttle linkage that engages only in drive or reverse gears. It has a shaft that you adjust so that the idle speed in drive is the same as it is in park or neutral.

good luck!
