I have removed the old door check strap from the driver's side door. This came out fairly easily because the large scalloped metal piece that is pinned to the door had become detatched. I bought a new door check strap, and since this one is properly joined with the scalloped piece, it is larger, and thus far I cannot fit it through the door panel to the corner where it needs to be installed.

Can the new door check strap be fitted without removing the power window mechanism? If yes, any advice on how to fit it through?
