Need Tranny Help

The trans in the 84 started to make a noise like a stuck or staving bearing, corresponds to wheel speed, not engine speed, not thr driveshaft bearing.

1. Ideas?
2. Will the trans from a similar vintage V8 126 bolt in as a replacement?

Jerry

Reverse only? Or all gears?

Reverse is quiet, noise in all forward gears, all speeds. Bringing vehicle up to speed, shift into neutral, power off engine and coast, noise is still present.

Jacked up rear wheels, started motor, placed into drive, noise seems to come from forward part of tranny, but hard to tell. Checked and tightened flywheel/converter bolts. Planning on doing tranny service with synthetic fluid.

Any help/advice is appreciated.

Sounds like a bearing has gone out in the ravinex (spl?) plant set, time to pull it and open it up.
