Need I little help from Larry, Manny, Donnie, ETC!
Is it at all possible for you good gentlemen to take a peek at two Ebay auctions that caught my interest, and would so be so kind as to offer your insights!
Ebay #2427867243 - 1970 250C Ebay #2427498715 - 1078 280CE Time is of the essence.... Most respectfully, Harp |

I looked at both cars & here is all the wisdom I can offer: 1. Both cars look pretty impressive. 2. Big difference in price & year, and I don't know what your budget is. 3. The 1970 is in LA, which is only 5 hours drive for you, to look at it. 4. The car in Florida looks mighty fine with that low mileage ( if true ). In any case, the normal advice applies here. Have them checked out by a trustworthy mechanic, preferably before you make any final commitments. Sorry I don't have any more ideas at this moment.

Manny,
Really appreciate the input! So, I got a budget under $6K....which one would you buy??? And how the hell I'd find a "trustworthy" mechanic in Florida is beyond me! The Florida one really catches my eye! Any feedback from Steve, Larry, Donnie??? |

This is one of those questions that are kind of hard to answer. Personally, I would take a close look at the 250C because I like the looks of it better. Keep in mind Ebay pics can make a car look real nice.
Where would you find parts for one made in 1078 anyway .

Oops! ....typos on me! 1078, indeed!
Now, when you all stop laughing..............let me correct it to 1978! Jeez, you guys are so easily entertained! Now how about a little serious assistance! The LA car is difinately a closer look, but I'd love to have someone peek at the Fla. car....just don't know where to find a "trustworthy" mechanic? Are you through laughing yet? Peace, Harp |

I suspect that Fla car is going to get pretty expensive $$ at the end of the auction. It is a nice looking car.

It did...and it closed!
Now what do you think of the LA car.....I'm damn tempted to drive out there! Any info on that particular type of MB....'70 250C ??? Any one in the LA area I could hire to take a hard unbiased look at it? Respectfully, Harp |

Since your budget is around $ 6 k, you could buy it for $ 3k & plan on spending the other half on it as required. Maybe somebody from the LA area will chime in here ? Worst case scenario, you could hire our moderator ( Gilly ), have him check it out, and if it doesn't work out, sue the pants off of him. I don't know anything about this particular model, sorry.

Sorry I'm a little tied up, and I've already had the pants sued off of me. Therefore I am sitting around tied up with no pants on.
(Just kidding on both counts) You need to find a vintage Mercedes technician in the LA area, don't know how you can go about getting a recommendation on a good one. If nothing else use the "good shops" forum here, or just your internet browser and hope for the best. Gilly |
