W126 Brake Light sw and Hood Pad
I'm going to replace the hood pad and the brake light switch on my '91 420SEL next week.
Could someone please tell me: 1 How is the hood pad held in place? Is it glued on or screwed on? Anyone done this? 2 Where is the brake light sw located and what is the procedure for getting the job done? Would appreciate any info and personal experiences. Thank you!! |

1. the pad is glued not screwed.
2. the switch should be mounted to the brake pedal pedestal, just above the brake pedal. You'll have to remove the driver's side under dash to gain access, should be threaded into the pedestal and retained with a lock nut.

Mike (or anyone)... I removed the lower dash on the driver's side. I looked up underneath and could not see or feel the brake light switch. There is a large vent tube that runs across the lower dash area that pretty much blocks out the whole upper brake pedal area though. I'm assuming that I have to take that out too, but can not see where it is attached.
Does that vent have to come out? Where is it attached? Thanks |
